David’s View

I received an email from David Gilmour this morning. He is still in Idaho,  becoming Mr. Natural, living the green life. He makes some good points, per usual. I thought I would share them.

Glenn:

We are going into a non-print, digi-visual world even for common media news.  Lots of people don’t read anything. Our club is for literate moviegoers, naturally, because we do more than watch them.
We study them, think about them, and stay alert and perceptive while we’re watching.  The art films of the past required and today require a very alert and perceptive viewer, someone interested even when English is not the spoken language.  People tell me all the time, they don’t like to read
subtitles.  How many truly high quality art films are in English?  I’d say the long list will be mostly foreign films
