Producers’ Committee Film Picks for August 2013


The theme for this month is, “ Pedro Almodovar–A Perspective of his films 





Written & Directed by Pedro Almodovar @ 90 minutes

The film is starring Carmen Maura, Antonio Banderas, Julieta Serrano,

Maria Barranco.

Synopsis: This is a zany farce about a woman searching for why her lover left her without a word. Meanwhile her girlfriend is ducking the police because her boyfriend is a criminal. They contact a lawyer who turns out to be the ex-lover’s latest paramour–and all their paths keep crossing.

Tagline: A new comedy about someone you know.

This film was nominated for an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and a Bafta as the Best Foreign Film of the year.


TALK TO HER (2002)

Written & Directed by Pedro Almodovar @ 112 minutes.

The film is starring Javier Camara, Darlo Grandinetti, Leonor Watling, Rosano Flores, & Geraldine Chaplin.

Synopsis: After a chance encounter at a theater, two men, Benigno and Marco, meet again at a medical clinic where Benigno works. Marco’s girlfriend, a bullfighter that was gored, was there in a coma. Benigno is looking for another woman in coma, a young ballet dancer. Their lives intersect, moving toward a sweet unsuspecting destiny.

This film won an Oscar for Almodovar as Best Original Screenplay, and it won both a Golden Globe & a Bafta as Best Foreign Film. 



Opening at the Grand Cinema on Friday, August 2, 2013.

Synopsis: On a flight some technical difficulties threaten the lives of the passengers, but in the face of calamity, the flight attendants chose to work twice as hard to make the passengers “comfortable”; hilarity ensues.

Tagline: A feel-good celebration of life that is as light and airy as the skies in which it is set. 



WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN  will screen at the Center for Spiritual Living (CSL) on Friday, August 2, 2013.

TALK TO HER will screen at the Center for Spiritual Living on Saturday, August 10, 2013, in conjunction with the TFC Summer Party, with food catered.

I’M SO EXCITED will open at the Grand Cinema on Friday, August 2, 2013. Try and get out to see it quickly, even though it may run more than one week.



The Center for Spiritual Living is located at 206 North J Street, on the corner of Division and J Street, across from the Group Health hospital.

The Grand Cinema is located at 606 South Fawcett Avenue– street level on the historic Merlino Art Center building, on the corner of 6th and Fawcett.
