IRIS (2001)

Directed by Richard Eyre @ 91 minutes.

The film stars Judi Dench, Jim Broadbent, Kate Winslet, & Hugh Bonneville.

Synopsis:  This is the true story of famous novelist Iris Murdoch, & her husband, John Bayley; juxtaposing their romantic youth against the Present where she is battling Alzheimer’s, & he must step up as caretaker.

This won an Oscar for Jim Broadbent as Best Supporting Actor.

Tagline: Her greatest talent was for life.

ALIVE INSIDE (2014)

Written & Directed by Michael Rossato-Bennett.

The film features Dan Cohen, & Louise Dueno @ 78 minutes.

Synopsis: This is a powerful Documentary about Dan Cohen, founder of MUSIC & MEMORY, using music as therapy to fight memory loss & restore a stronger sense of self to those who are suffering from it.

This film is the winner of “Best Documentary” at 5 Film Festivals, including Sundance.

THEATRICAL RELEASE:

STILL ALICE (2014)

Directed by Richard Glatzer & Wash Westmoreland @ 101 minutes.

Based on a novel by Lisa Genova.

The film stars Julianne Moore, Kristin Stewart, Alec Baldwin, & Kate Bosworth.

Synopsis: Alice, a linguistics professor & her family test the strength of their commitments when she is diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s. Fighting the inevitable course of the disease, she struggles to find the loving peace that makes life worth while.

Julianne Moore just won an Oscar for Best Actress.

SCREENINGS: 

STILL ALICE is already playing both at the Grand Cinema, & several neighborhood theaters.

IRIS will screen at CSL on Friday, March 6, 2015.

ALIVE INSIDE will screen at CSL on Friday, March 13, 2015.

The Center for Spiritual Living (CSL) is located at 206 N. J Street, on the corner of Division & J Streets, across from the Group Health Hospital.

The Grand Cinema is located at 606 South Fawcett Avenue, on the corner of Fawcett & 6th, in the old Merlino Art Building.
