October Discussion Films: RED

Give a club shout this month of October for red! Let’s consider what a red frame brings to our lives,

The Tacoma film Club’s October 2 viewing at CSL will be the BBC’s Simon Schama’s Power of Art series on Mark Rothko. Below is a link to a 73 minute talk on this most important artist who is closely associated with red abstract expressionist paintings.

The second Friday viewing will be “Red Desert” by Michelangelo Antonioni.

This month’s current movie house film is “The Martian” which premieres on Oct 1 in several Lakewood theaters.

The October theme “Red: a planet, a desert, a color” considers the world of human feelings. From the atmospheres of paint on canvas, to the alien landscapes we construct on Earth, to life environments beyond this planet, these three films create red frameworks of human emotion. Open that red door.
