Producer’s Film Picks for February 2016

The theme for the Tacoma Film Club, now in its twelfth year is:

Tango Hotel: Ennui and the World.

This month we combine writer directors Charlie Kaufman,Bernardo Bertolucci & Sophia Coppola into an intricate collage of malaise and discovery.

LOST IN TRANSLATION (2003)

Written & Directed by Sophia Coppola @ 101 minutes.

The film stars Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson, & Giovanni Ribisi.

Synopsis: A faded movie star, traveling to Japan to film commercials, & a neglected young woman form an unlikely bond after crossing paths in Tokyo.

Tagline: Everyone wants to be found.

LAST TANGO IN PARIS (1972)

Written & Directed by Bernardo Bertolucci @ 129 minutes.

The films stars Marlon Brando, Maria Schneider, Maria Michi & Jean-Pierre Leaud.

Synopsis: A young Parisian woman meets a charismatic American businessman who demands that their clandestine affair be based solely on sex.

LAST TANGO IN PARIS will e shown at the Center for Spiritual Living, the next Friday, February 12, 2016.

All three marvelous films will be reviewed & discussed on Wednesday, February 17, 2016.
